Overview:
Background:
Jeff began his career working in the music industry as a musician. While playing piano and singing in the studio, he found true enjoyment in the art of recording music. Following this newfound interest, he attended classes at Full Sail Center of Recording Arts in Orlando FL and began work as a recording engineer at Blue Earth Studios in Harrisburg IL.
In 1996, after serving as an recording engineering instructor at a local college, Jeff took the position of head engineer at the Pony Express Opry in Saint Joseph MO and ran sound for hundreds of successful country artists. While this job was a perfect way to get into the entertainment industry, live sound was not his passion. In 1997 Jeff took a huge leap of faith and opened Sound Logic Recording Studios in Saint Joseph, Missouri. “Starting out, I was only able to get a very small bank note and a rented space next door to the food kitchen. It made for some very interesting times!” says Anderson. Over the next 7 years, Jeff was able to pick up some major clients. He purchased a three-level historic row house, and after helping to start Digital Logic and Visual Logic, Jeff nurtured Sound Logic into a large multi-room facility. During this time period, Jeff produced and/or recorded over 480 productions that received world-wide syndication and built the facility into one of the most successful recording / production studios in the Midwest.
Through his work at Sound Logic, Jeff has earned many national and international awards, including a CINE, Tellys, Ages, and the International Cindy Award. He has worked in all levels of the music, industry, from Grammy nominated projects to independent artists albums. In 2001, Jeff received the National Who’s Who, Business Man of the Year.
In 2004 Jeff semi-retired to his hometown of Lafayette IN to achieve his dream, "a world-class recording facility in a laid back private location." Jeff currently serves as a mixing engineer, owner and producer for Sound Logic LLC and President of SLR Publishing.
In early 2007, Sound Logic LLC was chosen to be the featured studio in EQ Magazine. During the interview process, Jeff was asked to write a short description about the gear he had chosen for his studio. After penning an incredibly detailed 2000-word description, he was asked to try his hand at writing for the magazine. Since then, Jeff now fills anywhere from 2 – 20 pages each month with feature articles, product reviews, and / or technical pieces.
Jeff is currently working on three books. His first, “How to Make Money with Your Corporate Recording Studio” will be available in most bookstores starting Feb. 2009
In late 2007, Jeff began made the natural cross over from writing to video. He can now be seen as a host on EQ Television, interviewing musicians and industry professionals, touring studios and teaching lesions about recording engineering. In early 2008, Jeff hosted an on-line webinar for Newbay Media and Digidesign instructing engineers about the new version of Pro Tools software.
The community has also benefited from Jeff's enormous energies. In early 2002, he started the Greater Lafayette SERTOMA Club. SERTOMA is an acronym for Service to Man Kind. Jeff is a charter board member for the Lay Flats Arts Festival and is always looking for an opportunity to help with other not-for-profit originations.
Personal Life
In 1999, Jeff married Michelle Jensen. Michelle was Miss Teen Florida, Miss Dream Girl, and the Dove girl during the late 80’s. Michelle’s Father is a professional magician and her mother was a NYC Rocket. “Michelle has always been involved in the entertainment industry and has accepted me and my lifestyle!” admits Anderson. Residing in Lafayette Indiana, they are happily married with two children, Adam and Aaron.
At the age of 19, Jeff was diagnosed with Crohns disease. While this chronic disease has been a burden on Jeff and his family, he attributes it to defining his personality. “When I don’t feel good, I work,” says Anderson who is in an executive position of four successful companies. Jeff is an advocate of public awareness for Crohns and supports CCFA in their attempt to find a cure for the disease.
“Life is very exciting at the moment. Their are so many opportunity’s to be involved in and new projects that I’m excited to start. Most importantly, I’m very fortunate in that I can do a majority of my work here at Sound Logic, I can be around to watch my kids grow up. From what I’ve seen, that’s often the largest challenge in the music industry!”
Jeffery J. Anderson is a music producer, mixing engineer, author, writer for EQ Magazine, host of EQTV and an executive of three small corporations. While Jeff travels to large studios at least once a month for sessions and interviews, he does a majority of his work from his private studio, Sound Logic LLC, which is based on 6 Acers of land next to his home and other businesses in Lafayette Indiana.
